Catching Snowflakes Winter Art Project

What’s more fun than catching snowflakes on your tongue? This project is a completely paper based so gives you a break from painting. If you have colours of the world construction paper, this is a fantastic opportunity to use it so that every student can find a shade closest so their skin tone.

Duration: 45-60 minutes

Materials:

  • Black paper (background - sky)

  • White paper (snowflakes)

  • Various colours of construction paper

  • Scissors

  • Glue

  • Pencil (optional - used for curling)

Procedure:

  • Start by cutting out a head with a nose pointing up.

  • Cut out a curved sweater shape.

  • Use the other colours of construction paper to add details like hair, scarf, and designs on sweater.

  • Add snowflakes by cutting thin strips of paper and arranging in a star pattern.

  • To make hair curly, wrap thin strands of paper tightly around a pencil and then release. Only attach one end to that the rest of the curls hang loose.
