Hide & Seek Math or Literacy Game

Mine is called “Où est le crabe? 🦀” because that’s the sticker I have. It doesn’t need to be a crab!

I was inspired by @mme.andrea (Mme Andrea a perdu) and @comfyteacher (où est le mouton) to do a type of hide something behind a card game.

You will need:

• A pocket chart (mine is mini and magnetic)

• Index cards (or pre-made cards)

• Scissors

• A Sharpie

• A sticker (optional to include sticky tack)

Prep:

• I cut index cards in quarters

• Write words, letters or math problems on the cards

• Hide the sticker (keep the back on) behind one of the cards

How to play:

• Students take turns saying a word/answering a math problem of their choice.

• If they say/answer correct, they can flip the card to reveal if there’s anything behind it.

• The goal is to find the hidden sticker.

• You can include multiple stickers or even have an automatic “Madame wins” sticker

Card ideas:
- math facts for fluency (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)
- words of the week
- sounds
- letter names or sounds
- vocab picture where they must say the word
